Kaduna Electric Holds First-Ever Quarterly Conference to Boost Collaboration

The Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Umar
Abubakar Hashidu, delivered the opening remarks, describing the initiative as a
welcome development and the first of its kind in the company’s history. He
expressed his support for the conference and suggested that to be held monthly
if possible.
Dr. Hashidu encouraged staff to take
advantage of the conference to broaden their understanding of the company’s
diverse functions, noting that such exchanges could even inspire employees to
explore roles in departments better aligned with their skills and interests.
He particularly commended the Revenue
Protection Unit (RPU) for their outstanding contributions to the company’s
operations, praising the integrity and dedication of the team as exemplary.
Speaking at the event, the Head of
Corporate Communication, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, described the conference as a
vital platform for knowledge exchange and teamwork. He noted that by giving
staff the opportunity to understand the operations of other departments, Kaduna
Electric would not only strengthen internal collaboration but also improve
overall efficiency and service delivery.
“This conference is more than just a
meeting it’s an opportunity for us to learn from one another, and work as one
united Kaduna Electric. When we understand each other’s challenges and
successes, we become stronger as a team and more effective in serving our
customers,” he said.
The conference featured a detailed
presentation by the RPU, outlining their departmental structure, key
activities, and achievements. This was followed by an engaging panel session,
where participants discussed strategies, shared insights, and addressed questions
from attendees.

Launches Intensive Safety Training for Technical Staff

In a significant move to enhance
operational efficiency and entrench a culture of safety, Kaduna Electric’s
Zamfara Regional Office has rolled out a comprehensive safety training pr ogramme for its Technical and Operational
staff.
The initiative, which forms part of
the Company’s wider safety strategy, is designed to reinforce adherence to
standard operating procedures, minimise workplace risks, and strengthen service
reliability across the region.
Facilitating the programme, Engr.
Zubairu Musa, a seasoned expert in safety and outage management, delivered a
mix of case studies, interactive discussions, and corrective action frameworks
tailored to the company’s operational realities.
“Bypassing procedures, no matter how
minor they may seem, can lead to serious consequences,” Engr. Zubairu
cautioned. “Safety is not just a policy; it is a responsibility we owe to
ourselves, our colleagues, and the public.”
Delivering his remarks, the Regional
Manager, Mr. Gaddafi Ibrahim Saminaka, underscored the central role of safety
in achieving operational excellence.
“Our staff are our greatest assets.
This training is not just about compliance it’s about saving lives, protecting
infrastructure, and ensuring uninterrupted service delivery,” he affirmed.
“Every team member must understand that safety cannot be compromised.”
The event also featured a
presentation by the Regional Technical Manager, Engr. Yusuf Yahaya, who
stressed the importance of structured outage management and clear internal
communication during system incidents.
“With increasing demand on our
infrastructure, every field activity must follow standard procedures, Proper
coordination and adherence to escalation protocols are essential for timely and
safe fault resolution,” Engr. Yahaya noted.
To deepen practical understanding,
the training incorporated breakout sessions, scenario-based simulations, and
hands-on exercises. These interactive elements enabled participants to rehearse
real-life responses to common operational challenges in a controlled setting,
while also sharing field experiences and engaging in collaborative
problem-solving.
The programme concluded with a Safety
Commitment Pledge, where all participants reaffirmed their dedication to
upholding the highest safety standards in the execution of their duties.

Engage Staff in Town Hall Meeting

The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Alhaji Aminu Abubakar Suleiman, and MD/CEO Dr. Umar Hashidu held a town hall meeting with staff at Kaduna Electric's Head Office. The meeting aimed to update staff on company developments, outline future plans, and gather feedback on improving service delivery.
Alhaji Suleiman emphasized the
importance of hard work, stating "the result of hard work is more
work," and urged staff to change their attitude for better service.
He stressed the need for teamwork,
maximum cooperation, and working with integrity.
The Chairman announced the board's
approval of promotions for 125 staff members and promised to prioritize staff
welfare.
He also promised to provide working
tools, chairs, and tables for staff convenience. Alhaji Suleiman announced
plans to deploy 25,000 meters within two weeks and urged the technical team to
optimize the network for maximum revenue.
The Chairman's vision is to elevate
Kaduna Electric to a high level of achievement. MD/CEO Dr. Umar Hashidu thanked
the Chairman and promised regular interactive sessions with staff to keep them
updated.
This town hall meeting demonstrates
Kaduna Electric's commitment to transparency, staff engagement, and continuous
improvement in serving its customers.
