Kaduna Electric MD/CEO Visit KASU Vice Chancellor

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kaduna Electric, Dr. Umar Abubakar Hashidu, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University (KASU), Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, at his office today 11th March 2025.

 

The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration and explore potential partnerships between Kaduna Electric and KASU in various areas of mutual interest. Discussions centered on fostering a strategic alliance that would benefit both institutions, particularly in areas related to energy solutions and capacity building.

 

Speaking during the visit, Umar Abubakar Hashidu emphasized Kaduna Electric’s commitment to working closely with academic institutions to enhance knowledge sharing and provide practical opportunities for students in the power sector. He noted that the university plays a crucial role in training the next generation of professionals, and a partnership with KASU would create avenues for innovation and technological advancements in the energy sector.

 

In his response, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa welcomed the initiative and expressed KASU’s readiness to collaborate with Kaduna Electric. He highlighted the importance of industry academia partnerships in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications, especially in sectors critical to national development.

 

Both parties agreed to explore further areas of cooperation and establish a framework for sustained engagement.

 

Kaduna Electric Women Celebrate International Women’s Day with Inspiring Talks

In line with this year's International Women's Day theme, ‘Accelerate Action’ the women of Kaduna Electric convened at the company's Head Office yesterday to commemorate the occasion with a series of insightful discussions and activities.

 

The event commenced with opening remarks from the Company Secretary Fatima Abdulfatah, who emphasized the significance of accelerating action towards gender equality within the organization and beyond. She highlighted the importance of creating an inclusive environment that fosters growth and equal opportunities for all women.


As a mother of five, I know the challenges that come with balancing responsibilities, but I also know that determination and self-belief can lead to incredible achievements. If I can be where I am today despite the obstacles, I truly believe that every woman has the potential to do the same. Believe in yourself, trust your journey, and know that you are capable of achieving greatness. With perseverance and a strong will, you can turn your dreams into reality. You have the power go for it”, she said.


Throughout the day, guest speakers addressed pivotal topics impacting women's personal and professional lives such as Procrastination Strategies to overcome delays and enhance productivity were discussed, empowering women to take decisive actions in their careers.

Sexual Assault: The session underscored the importance of awareness, prevention, and support systems, fostering a safe and respectful workplace.

Mental Health: Discussions centered on recognizing mental health challenges and promoting well-being among women, encouraging open conversations and support.

 

The event concluded with a closing remark by the Head Treasury and Accounts Amina Abu Yaro, who lauded the collective efforts of the participants. She urged all women to continue supporting each other and to actively engage in initiatives that promote empowerment.

"This is awesome! I can see the excitement. I hope we will not be the same people as we leave this hall, at least everyone has one or two things to change in life. I will leave you with three questions to ask yourselves: Who are you? What drives you? What is your purpose? Wherever you are, love yourself, be truthful, and accelerate action," she said.

This celebration reaffirmed Kaduna Electric's commitment to fostering an equitable workplace, resonating with the global call to accelerate action for women's rights and empowerment

 

 

Reginal Manager Sokoto Seeks Improved Billing Efficiency and Revenue Performance

The Regional Manager, Kaduna Electric Sokoto Region Mr, Zanna Ahmed Ashemi, has charged staff of Sokoto Regional Office of the company, to change their mindset and focus on the success of the company

 

Mr Zanna Ashemi who made the call during an enlarge family meeting with the staff of Sokoto Region, stated that the aim of the meeting is basically to look into and rub mind to see how to improve the billing efficiency of the entire region and improve the revenue collection target

 

He pointed out that, the billing efficiency of Sokoto region for the month of February 2025, is 33% and not acceptable, considering the quantum of energy consumed in Sokoto.

 

He lamented and charged the four Area offices of the region to make sure that the billing efficiency of their respective area offices is improved.

 

According to him, “this can be achieved with the support and cooperation of every member of staff by capturing more customers into the company data base.

 

"This will improve the billing and collection efficiency. It is achievable, if the staff turn a new leaf, with all hands on the deck, to change the narrative.

 

"Right now, we are operating at a loss.

 The company would only expand its operations and develop its workforce when there is profit," he stated.

 

The Regional Manager who reiterated that indiscipline will not be condone among the staff members further urged every staff of the region to be people of integrity, to move the company to greater heights.

 

Kaduna Electric Strengthens Partnership with Nigeria Immigration Service in Zamfara

In a concerted effort to strengthen institutional synergy and optimize service delivery, the Zamfara Regional Office of Kaduna Electric has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing strategic collaboration with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Zamfara State Command. This engagement, focused on electricity supply efficiency, debt recovery, and sustainable power solutions, was the highlight of a high-level courtesy visit by Kaduna Electric’s Management team to the NIS headquarters in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

 

Representing the Regional Manager, Malam Gaddafi Ibrahim Saminaka, the Zamfara North Area Manager, Lawal Adamu, emphasized the crucial role of reliable electricity in supporting Government Institutions.

 

“Reliable electricity is essential for the smooth operation of security agencies. Through this collaboration, we are not only improving power distribution but also contributing to a safer and more efficient public service system in Zamfara,” Adamu stated.

 

He reiterated Kaduna Electric’s commitment to ensuring a stable and dependable power supply, particularly for institutions like the Nigeria Immigration Service, whose operations are critical to national security and administrative governance.

 

“We recognize the vital role played by the Nigeria Immigration Service in national security, border management, and administrative functions. A consistent and dependable power supply is crucial for the seamless execution of these responsibilities. Kaduna Electric remains committed to meeting this need by ensuring reliable electricity distribution to your facilities,” Adamu added.

In response, the Zamfara State Immigration Controller, M.S. Aliyu, welcomed the Kaduna Electric Management team and expressed appreciation for the visit. He acknowledged the pivotal role of electricity in ensuring the smooth operation of Immigration Service facilities, particularly in handling security sensitive tasks such as border surveillance, real-time data processing among others.

“We acknowledge the challenges within the power sector and appreciate Kaduna Electric’s efforts in maintaining and improving electricity supply. The Nigeria Immigration Service remains committed to fulfilling its obligations and looks forward to further discussions on energy efficiency strategies that can enhance operational sustainability,” Aliyu affirmed.
